I insisted we make time to visit Lola, Tere’s grandmother. Lola lives in Guagua, about a 45 minute ride via jeepney from San Fernando. Guagua was one of the areas that was severely affected by the flood in 2009 due to the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. The remnants of the flood is still very apparent as the entire city is undergoing a project to raise the roads and buildings up to the level of where the volcanic ash has settled.
Once we arrived in the city limits, we stopped at a local market to do some grocery shopping for Lola then ate lunch at Jolibee. Tere was a bit under the weather with flu symptoms but we pressed on as these where the last days of my vacation and this was our final stop before heading back to Manila. After lunch, we took a pedi-cab to Lola’s.
